Farm Konekt Joins BIMP-EAGA Trade Facilitation Cluster Meeting

Advancing Agro Supply Chain Management



The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Philippines achieved a remarkable feat by successfully hosting the first-ever BIMP-EAGA Trade Facilitation Cluster Meeting this year at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.


This gathering of high-ranking officials from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines marks a significant step towards better regional cooperation and economic growth.


During the meeting, Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security (CIQS) agencies from member countries focused on simplifying cross-border procedures and enhancing security measures. The goal is to promote smooth trade and travel within the region, making business transactions easier.



The BOC Port of Cagayan de Oro's District Collector, Erastus Sandino B. Austria, expressed gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. He emphasized that the meeting sets the stage for collaboration, unity, and progress, leading to prosperity among nations.


Farm Konekt's CEO, John Gastanes, also attended the event and shared updates on their agro supply chain management project for the sub-region. Gastanes expressed excitement about the opportunity to collaborate and receive support from the Green Climate Fund (GGGI).


During the event, Farm Konekt also shared updates on their initial design thinking and system upgrades, geared towards executing deliverables and receiving support from the GGGI. He expressed gratitude for the CIQS sector's support in facilitating the legal exchange of goods, further cementing their role as a grantee and a proud Filipino championing a multi-country business project for partner communities.


The event marked a significant step towards greater regional cooperation and economic growth within the BIMP-EAGA member countries, setting the stage for a future of shared prosperity and progress.
