Grounded Leadership, Lasting Impact: John Vincent Gastanes Inspires Palawan's Young Leaders

In an era where young leaders often search for clarity in a fast-changing world, a powerful and personal moment unfolded in Southeast and Southwest Palawan. More than a hundred youth gathered for a leadership forum that moved beyond formalities and spoke straight to the heart of public service.

Among the featured speakers was John Vincent Q. Gastanes, Founder and CEO of Farm Konekt and Project Zacchaeus Corporation (PZC). Known for pioneering inclusive agri-tech solutions and community-driven enterprise models in the Philippines, Gastanes arrived not to present credentials—but to connect.

“I didn’t come to lecture,” he told the participants. “I came to listen—as a kuya, maybe even a tito—someone who knows what it means to lead while carrying silent battles.”

Fresh from a national training and a long trip from Manila, Gastanes chose honesty and humility over slideshows. The forum became an open dialogue on purpose, service, and staying rooted in values. He shared real stories of building Farm Konekt—now operating in the BIMP-EAGA region and supported by partners like GGGI and USAID—from the ground up with nothing but faith, grit, and community.

More than a speech, it was a reminder: leadership is not prestige—it’s the quiet decision to serve, especially when no one is watching.

Gastanes emphasized that leadership must be spiritual and community-centered, telling the youth:

“It’s not about being rich or famous. It’s about being deeply rooted in purpose—serving with compassion and honoring God through your work.”

His presence offered something rare: a leadership model rooted in empathy, not ego. As the young participants asked heartfelt questions—from overcoming discouragement to leading in uncertain times—Gastanes responded with clarity and care.

Before leaving, he shared one last thought:

“As I walked out of that room, I carried each of them in prayer. I know their journey won’t be easy—but I also know seeds were planted. That’s how change begins.”

The session closed with renewed strength among the participants—proof that the most powerful leadership often starts in the quietest rooms, with people who choose to listen first.
